witches & warlocks
born humans who have attained power through long study of tomes, spell books and ritual, or sometimes that have gone the faster route by making a pact with a daemon or a fae. some soul selling might be requiredβ’οΈ.
the path to learning magic is a fitful one, full of mistakes, fizzled dreams and scorched desks. many humans seek the teachings of someone already knowledgable in magic, who can guide them towards the proper channels. to study, learn and fully harness magic takes decades of work, and is not something learned over a weekend in a salt circle. this lends itself to many human-born magic users creating pacts, not understanding what they might be signing away to get those powers a little bit faster.
pagans / druids magic users who have found their powers in the deep soils of the earth, and who's magic revolves around plants, nature and animals. these generally gentle magic users find themselves most at home in forests, and cultivate beautiful gardens and green life. some fae also grant druids further powers, such as animal-shifting.

powers → typically attuned with nature, pagan magic users and druids train to learn the secrets of creating and maintaining plant life, bending the earth around them to their will and finding particular favor in the magic of healing. typically skilled potion makers, these magic users know the benefits and drawbacks of most plants, and can concoct helpful items, salves and tinctures.
a druid looking to further their abilities might make a pact with a fae and earn the gift of animal shifting. while the entirity of the animal kingdom is open to them, the druid must have seen the animal before in person, and typically druids favor certain forms over others.
necromancers magic users who sacrifice their own life energies or the energy of an unwilling participant for the power to control the dead. able to summon ghouls to aide them, or to sometimes revive a dead person with a powerful ritual, necromancers are the black sheep of the magical community, but important at times.
more info
powers → to become a necromancer is to be willing to sacrifice your own life essence for the powers you wield. while very powerful and feared among the supernatural community for the work that they do, it is only those who practice these so-called black magicks who understand the true cost. giving up years at the end of your life might sound easy in theory β until the bill comes due. necromancers must use their own, or the energy of another life for their magicks, sacrificing small limbs (pinkie fingers, etc), minutes to years from their own life depending on the strength requirements of the spell or the full life of another creature to achieve their means.
psychics psychics are also not naturally born, having to train themselves in channeling their true calling. to become a real psychic, a human must make a pact with a fae to receive the ability to peer into dreams, to read the stars and tell a person's future. often psychics channel their power through a token, like a crystal ball or a set of tarot cards. just as with mediums, there are plenty of fake psychics in the world, the gift of the fae elusive.
mediums not naturally born, mediums are humans who have gone through extensive research and made some allowances within necromantic arts to form relationships with the spirits beyond. of course there are plenty of fakes out in the world who boast the ability to talk to ghosts, but to find a true medium is rare.
