where to begin

☾ take some time to familiarize yourself with the member area! there's a lot to see and explore, and it can be easy to feel overwhelmed, but we're here for you if you have questions!

☾ create a character sheet for yourself! we use these for dice rolling within our plots, and some of these bonus stats can be used to your advantage in certain situations!

☾ consider creating a post in our ooc community! this is optional but it's easier to keep track of than the fast-moving pbads and allows you to connect easier with other members of your species and beyond!

☾ directly connect and plot with the fellow members of your species in our species ooc customs! this is a great way to plug directly into the comm and get to know people!

☾ we keep track of previous comm & faction plots under the event tag in the main community! if you want to see what's happened recently in seattle, that's not a bad place to start!

Just how many supernatural are there? while an official worldwide census hasn't been taken, the current thought is that supernaturals exist in a ratio of 1 for every 75 humans. This includes those turned and magic users who aren't classified as 'creatures'.

how concerned should i be about the radiant dawn? like any terrible group, the radiant dawn is no subtle threat, especially in the concerns of the safety of the supernatural. the radiant dawn began as a church, similar in scope to the church of scientology in the pursuit of pure catholicism, evolving throughout the years to a megachurch status. now, in today’s times, they can be more correctly defined as a human supremecist group operating with the facade of a devout catholic church. the main compound is located somewhere in texas, true location unknown in more recent years, with scattered chapters throughout the united states of varying intensities.

in day to day life, the radiant dawn is a back of the mind concept. supernaturals are not accosted regularly on the street or harassed, but it isn’t out of sorts to see a preacher or recruitment flyers encouraging giving the radiant dawn and their ideals a try. every once in a while there are attacks and real violence, but these outbursts are waved off by the main office as the fanatical outbursts of crazed subsets.. how true that is has not been officially assessed.

UPDATE 1/27 due to a fbi raid carried out on january 26, the radiant dawn has retreated for the forseeable future.

the magical world of fast travel discovered by the renown wizard Elore Hothall in 1642 through a fit of extraordinary luck, portal magic is a subset of magic that takes a very skilled magic user to pull off. Carefully regulated by councils throughout the world, and overseen by a high registry nestled within governments the world over, portal magic is a dangerous art not to be attempted by a lay person. Those who learn the secrets of portal-travel must undergo serious testing to guarantee their portals spit persons traveling out into the right place and plane and that the portal itself does not cause any undo damage to the travelers.

Achieved by careful tears in the fabric of reality and inter-dimensional pockets, there are now so-called portal keepers available to the supernatural in any large community throughout the world who can get you where you want to go for an appropriate cost. It's a great deal less expensive, and so much less hassle, than air travel, and can be scheduled well in advance. Need to be in Italy on Friday and have a portal back Sunday? Not a problem!

Social Media

Remember that stuff? The golden lit insta pictures that filled your timeline and made you long for a different life? Well, things might look a bit different. While humans continue to use programs like Instagram and Twitter, the supernatural world has adapted variations of these platforms as safe spaces for the supernatural. Phasmagram is a supernatural focused photo sharing app, and the popular website Screecher will handle all your Twitter needs.

That isn't to say that Instagram and Twitter are beyond your reach, of course they aren't! Just incase you want a safer space to talk about your latest bloody meal, well, maybe you might want to steer clear of the human dominated platforms for that.

Be warned however, like any social media website, Humans and enemies of the supernatural world have found their way on. It's all we can do to prevent them from seeing the best of the worst, but for the most part they can't do anything about the things they might see.

Humans

Of course humans remain the funniest factor in this life of ours. Some of us were once humans, and that humanity inside of us doesn't just vanish once you turn the mortal coil on it's head. Some humans are on our side, supporting and working with us for a brighter future for all, and some well.. you've all seen the Radiant Dawn. Humans can be both an invaluable ally, and our greatest enemy, depending on the information at hand.

In all things, be wary. Assume the worst. Humans have become the main predator of the supernatural, and as much as we want to hope for the best in all situations, many humans would rather protect themselves and their lives before anything else. Exercise caution.

Your Rights as a supernatural

Noctiluca has fought for years for the recognition of the supernatural in institutions throughout the United States and beyond. This included Article 398.7, known as Klein v. Adramoff in which it was determined that landlords could not evict tenants based on their.. less than living conditions. The supernatural are able to possess federal identification, travel on planes, trains and purchase land, hold employment, though if you want to or not is up to you. Yes, in some instances that might mean the tax man comes calling, but if you have a little snack, we're not sure anyone would really mind that disappearance.

Murder and you... what you should know
Of course, with the rights we have been afforded there have been some certain.. rules we've been requested to follow, lest the government starts to become more interested in supernatural activities. Gone are the day of murder sprees, blood flowing like fountains, being tactful and discreet is now prized above most anything else. Of course we all have needs, and synthetic answers to the eternal hunger have been developed to try and quench some of those needs.

For the vampires among us who wish to remain human friendly, Bloodlite remains one of the most popular brands, created in 2015 by Name Here as an answer to his best friend and business partner's turning. Coming in a variety of flavors (blood types), most can find something at least a little enjoyable with Bloodlite, and can wean off fresh blood entirely if they want to.

Not everyone will choose to use bloodlite, and both Noctiluca and some parts of the governments of the world understand that as much as they can. Vampires and other creatures who drink from the blood of mortals are asked to keep their draining to an absolute minimum, unless previously agreed upon in a contract.
